BMW 5 Series - a German high-end car produced by the Bayerische Motoren Werke factory, which debuted in 1972.

In 1980 came the debut of the BMW 5 Series II (E34), and another BMW III Series model with the factory code E34 was presented in 1987. September 1990 saw the first facelift, which introduced, among other things, the new M50 24-valve engine and the M51 in two variants TD and TDS. The old four-speed automatic transmission was replaced by a five-speed. In the second facelift, the mirrors were changed, different materials were used in the vehicle's interior, the M50 engine featured the VANOS variable valve timing system, and a driver's airbag was now fitted as standard.

Another third facelift took place in mid-1994, in which the following were changed: the front grille (the "kidney" grill), the engine flap for the engine version, the M34 engine was replaced by the M40 engine in the 518i version, the sill and lower door trims were added, the bumpers were repainted, the interior of the car was finished in wood, and a passenger airbag was installed as standard.

The car was produced for the European, Japanese, Thai, American and South African markets, with a total of 1,331,056 units sold.
