Focke-Wulf Fw 190 - a single-seat, single-engine German fighter from World War II.

At the end of 1937, the RLM sent a requisition with specifications to German aviation plants for a new fighter plane to serve alongside the Bf 109 fighter (if there proved to be a better plane in the rest of the world than the Bf 109). A year later, the Reich Air Ministry ordered 4 Fw 190 prototypes with an engine with a starting power of 1550 hp. The first Fv 190 V-1 was ready in the spring of 1939 and was flown on June 1, 1939 at Bremen airfield by chief flight engineer Hans Sander. The aircraft lived up to expectations; it had excellent flight characteristics, great visibility from the cabin, and a wide undercarriage that made low-speed landings reasonably safe. In addition to the advantages, there were also disadvantages: high temperatures in the cockpit and exhaust fumes that leaked from the engine compartment (pilots had to use oxygen masks), engine overheating, the problem of blocking the retracted landing gear. The second prototype of the V2 was improved, and it was flown on October 31, 1939; it was also presented to Herman Göring, who liked the aircraft very much.

In the spring of 1940, a V-5 version was flown in which many significant modifications were made, including: the front of the aircraft was rebuilt, the engine was changed to a BMW 801, the cockpit was moved to the rear, the undercarriage was strengthened, and the hydraulic drive was converted to electric and the wingspan was increased.

Fw 190A-8: the most produced version since 1944 (1,384 were produced). All aircraft were equipped with the ETC 501 universal bomb launcher (an additional fuel tank could also be hooked up), the MW50 fuel system was adapted to add an additional 115-liter internal tank, new antennas for radio equipment were used, and the layout was changed with a Pitot tube.
