T 679.1 locomotives were designed and produced from the mid-1960s at the Soviet locomotive factory in Voroshilovgrad for the GCC. The ĆSD T 679.1 series were diesel-electric locomotives of the former Czechoslovak State Railways delivered in 1966 to operate heavy freight trains.

By developing the T679 CSD, PIKO is responding to the demand of many H0 railroaders for a modern, detailed model of this iconic series. The PIKO T679 model features accurate execution of all the essential details of the prototype and convinces with the best painting and printing, included grippers, sharply engraved bogie covers, engine room equipment, standard installed cab and engine room lighting, which can be customized digitally switched with the PluX22 decoder and taillights that operate according to the direction of travel. A powerful five-speed engine provides excellent handling characteristics with two flywheel weights. The model has a NEM 658-compatible PluX22 digital interface and is prepared for easy retrofitting with sound and the largest possible speaker. Brake lines for retrofitting are included.
