Panzerkampfwagen V Panther - German World War II medium tank as a direct answer to the Soviet T-34 tank.
Production of the V Panther began in 1942 and was completed in 1945. It did not enter service until 1943 and was not the only basic vehicle in the German armored forces. A total of some 5992 were produced in A, D and G versions.
In direct combat, Panthers were more technically advanced than the T-34, with thicker armor and more effective guns giving them an advantage in duels with enemy medium tanks. A major problem was the unit cost and production time of the tank. For example, Panthers rolled off the production line nearly 6,000 units, and T-34s and Shermans as many as 100,000 units.
Also impressive were the technical parameters of the Panther: the weight of the vehicle was 44,800 kg, a 12-cylinder engine with a power of 700 hp, a speed in the field of 24km/h - on the road 46 km/h, armor of 45-110 mm thickness and a 75 mm caliber KwK 42 L/70 cannon.
