Ryko tank car of a Czech carrier.
In the early 1990s, the first tank cars with the so-called "articulated tank" were developed. The design of the tanks was such that the two halves of the tank tilted inward by 3° in each case. Therefore, the contents of the tank, mainly mineral oil products, flow out almost completely without any additional aids. Because these vehicles, made of lightweight steel, are suitable for higher speeds, they were soon purchased by other companies throughout Europe. These cars can be found as P (=private) wagons in the stock of all European railroad companies.
