The first articulated tank cars were built in the early 1990s on behalf of railcar rental company KVG. Made in modern lightweight steel construction, the boiler halves sloped downward by 3 degrees to allow the greatest possible emptying of transported goods such as mineral oils, gasoline, diesel fuel, etc. Wagons adapted to higher speeds soon joined the fleets of other companies throughout Europe. The wagons are usually parked as private cars in the special freight parking lots of individual national railroads. They can be found on rails throughout Europe.
