The ZSU-23-4 "Shilka" is a Soviet/Russian self-propelled anti-aircraft weapon system, armed with a radar-guided quadruple automatic AZP-23 "Amur" caliber 23 mm gun. The ZSU-23-4 "Shilka" is designed to protect troops in all conditions from strikes by aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles - and can even be successfully used against armored vehicles and ground targets.
In 1965, after solving various problems that arose in the pre-production version of the ZSU-23-4, serial production began, and the "Shilka" entered service in the Soviet army. In 1973, a new version was launched with more reliable automatic guns and ammunition feeding mechanism, improved fire control system and generator. This variant was officially named "Berioza," but retained the popular name "Shilka." About 6,500 ZSU-23-4s were produced, and they are widely used in 41 countries, many of them in conflicts past and present.
