The German "Ferdinand" heavy assault gun is one of the most famous self-propelled artillery vehicles of World War II. the 8.8 cm Pak 43/2 Panzerjäger Tiger (P) Ferdinand (Sd.Kfz 184) was named after its designer, Ferdinand Porsche. A total of 90 such tank destroyers were produced. It first appeared at the front at the Battle of Kursk in 1943. After modernization in February 1944, it was renamed "Elefant." This assault gun was used on the Eastern and Italian fronts. The powerful 88mm cal. cannon and 200mm armor made it a "mortal enemy," capable of hitting any World War II Allied armored equipment from a distance of more than 1km and was almost invulnerable to return fire.
