Two-component fast-drying epoxy resin from Kavan.

Basic properties:

  • Suitable for bonding: soft and hard wood, particleboard, plywood, metals, polystyrene foam, ceramics, porcelain, glass and carbon laminates, fabrics and glass and carbon fibers
  • Not suitable for bonding: soft and flexible plastics (including EPP and EPO), polyethylene, Teflon
  • Use as putty, suitable fillers: microballoons, talc, baby powder, diatomaceous earth, fine balsa or lime sawdust, chopped glass fibers. Note - the addition of mastic can reduce working time by up to 25% and (depending on the type and amount of mastic used) reduce the strength of the joint
  • Working time (for gelation): about 15 min (20 ° C to 25 ° C)
  • Bonded parts can be handled: after 30-35 min
  • Half strength: after 30-35 min
  • Full strength: after 4-6 hrs.
  • Full cure: 24 hrs.
  • Color: transparent
  • Mixing ratio of ingredients: 1:1 (by volume and weight)
  • Note 1: The curing of the adhesive depends mainly on the ambient temperature; if a large amount of epoxy resin is mixed at the same time (usually more than 20-30 g), it can harden much faster - to maintain a longer working time, the adhesive should be cooled, for example, in a water bath. This is due to the fact that heat is given off during the reaction of the resin with the hardener, while at the same time the resin hardens faster at higher temperatures. And because as the volume increases, the weight of the resin (and thus the amount of heat generated) increases faster than the size of the outer surface from which heat is dissipated to the environment, more resin heats up and cures faster
  • Note 2: Originally transparent and quite liquid epoxy resins based on bisphenol A and epichlorohydrin can sometimes thicken ("sugar") like bee honey) and lose their transparency - this is due to low temperatures, moisture or the passage of time. By carefully heating in hot water (60-70 ° C) for a few minutes, until the resin becomes clear again throughout, you can get the resin "like new" again, with its original properties.
