Endurance racing, presented by the iconic Le Mans race, has gained considerable popularity among various motorsports events in Europe. One notable event held at Germany's Nürburgring is the Nürburgring Endurance Series, which boasts a rich history and tradition dating back to 1977. It is considered one of the largest motorsport series in the world. About 10 races lasting between 3.5 and 6 hours are held each year, with teams competing for the season's championship. Each race features about 170 vehicles in various classes, including commercially available racing models, GT3 cars and touring cars based on production models. The competition in each class is intense, leading to exciting races. As a result, the event has become very popular and has attracted a large number of fans. One of the teams competing in the series is Walkenhorst Motorsport. Led by Henry Walkenhorst, who also runs a BMW dealership, Walkenhorst Motorsport has become a reputable and influential team for BMW customers. Walkenhorst Motorsport has been actively involved in racing from the very beginning, pursuing both promotional and technical development goals. Focusing mainly on touring car racing, Walkenhorst Motorsport has won many victories, demonstrating its high level of skill. Since 2016, Walkenhorst Motorsport has been using the BMW M6 GT3, a race car developed by BMW with a powerful 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, and has achieved outstanding results in every race it participates in. Walkenhorst Motorsport fully participated in the 2020 Nürburgring Endurance Series. The season faced uncertainty due to an outbreak of coronavirus around the world, and the opening race was in doubt. Eventually, however, the season began in June. Unfortunately, due to the spread of the infection, races 6 through 8 scheduled for October were canceled. As a result, the general classification was based on the results of the first five races, creating an unconventional season format. With the initial schedule changes challenging the preparations of all teams, Walkenhorst Motorsport showed its strength and achieved stable results, securing one win, two second places and one third place in five races. Behind the wheel of the BMW M6 GT3 with the number 34 were Christian Krognes from Norway, David Pitterd from Great Britain and Jorda Pepper from South Africa. They secured the championship title in the SP9 Pro class.
