Citroen 2CV - an automotive legend - a car produced by the French company Citroën from 1949 to 1990 in the number of 3,868,634 units !!!
In 1936, Pierre Boulanger commissioned designers to design and build a popular car "quatre roues sous un parapluie" (translated: four wheels under an umbrella). It was assumed that the car was to be for 4 people + 50 kg of luggage, and its speed was 50 km/h.
The design work was completed in 1938, and 250 prototypes were built for testing by May 1939. Unfortunately, due to the outbreak of World War II, the presentation did not take place, and on June 14, 1940, 249 copies were destroyed so that they would not "fall" into the hands of the Germans. Documentation and 1 piece of the car were hidden, which the Germans did not find. Despite the war, the designers kept working on improving the prototype because they realized that after the end of the war there would be a great demand for a cheap and simple passenger car.
The first presentation of the Citroen 2CV took place on October 6, 1948 at the Paris Salon, and the vehicle had already earned the title of the world's ugliest car (it was also called the "ugly duckling").
