The Boeing 737 is a narrow-body medium-range passenger aircraft considered the most popular in the world, manufactured by the Boeing Company in the United States.

On November 9, 1964, Boeing decided to begin work on a short- and medium-haul aircraft. The first order came from Lufthansa, which purchased 22 aircraft on February 19, 1965. The prototype, numbered N73700, was completed in early 1967, and on April 9, 1967, the first flight was made, which lasted 2.5 hours. At the controls were Boeing's chief test pilot Samuel Lewis Wallick Jr. and the plant's deputy director of flight operations Brien Wygle.

The Boeing 737 is the most frequently ordered airplane by airlines, with some 15,000 units produced to date. After 10,000 were built, it made it into the Guinness Book of Records. in 2014, 42 units per month "left" the production line.

In December 2011, Boeing launched the Boeing 737 MAX program in which the most important change was the replacement of the engines on theCFM Internatinal LEAP-1B with more economical engines that used 13% less fuel than their predecessors. The wings with new winglets, landing gear shins, avionics were also changed, an electronic compressed air system was used to optimize cabin conditions and the aircraft's tail aerodynamics were improved. The Max 8 version has a longer range of 1,000 kilometers and a takeoff weight of 2 tons than its big brother, the 737-800.

One of the first users of the 737 Max 8 was LOT Polish Airlines, which received its first Boeing (SP-LVA) on December 2, 2017.
