TheMercedes-Benz S-Class I (W116) as a successor to the W108 was first presented in September 1972.
After 7 years, another version was created with the symbol W126 which was presented in September 1979. Changes were made to the exterior details of the body, the braking system, and for larger engine capacities hydropneumatic suspension (Nivo) was used. This version was produced until 1994, and was succeeded by the W140 model.
