A total of 293 cars (No. 80 1st class and 213 2nd class) were delivered to the MAV by Cegielski Works in Poznań in 1979-1980 and were used on the Tokaj Express and many other important express trains connecting Budapest with Hungary's major cities.
These figures made the Polish Y wagons the largest family of passenger cars issued for the MAV and for three decades they could be easily spotted on Hungarian railroads.
The wagons have the distinctions of ep. IV from the early 1980s with a distinctive light gray roof and white lettering, suitable for proper dressing until the mid-1990s. "Nice old times," someone might think!
Compared to the Polish versions of the Y-type wagons, the models differ slightly in the placement of the selective switching boxes on the chassis and the shape of the battery box.
Additional elements made of etched sheet metal are included. These are directional boards and switches for self-assembly under the edge of the wagon.
Tokaj Exp model trains are made with attention to detail both inside and outside. The first class has 6 seats in a compartment with painted headrests and tables by the windows. In the second class model, we have 8 compartment seats, with different interior colors. In each compartment you will find shelves for luggage and a carefully marked wall with the entrance door to each compartment. In addition, the set includes a bag with long wires that can be mounted on the front of each carriage.
The models are characterized by very good handling characteristics and each model is adapted for the installation of lighting, i.e. it has current collectors in the carriages and soldered wires and leads to the inside of the model.
