Water crane with articulated boom - 2 pieces.
In fact, water cranes with an articulated boom were often found on platforms near the departure tracks. The reason for this placement was obvious: if the steam locomotive of an oncoming train needed to take on water, it did not always stop exactly at the water crane. Pulling it forward or back again would pose an increased risk to passengers boarding and alighting. The articulated boom allowed for some length adjustment, allowing the hose nozzle to be positioned near the water tank filler hole in the locomotive's tendon without moving the train. Water cranes of this type were often standard equipment on railroad depots. The models include an additional base with steps to compensate for the height difference between the ballasted track and the model track.
