U S S Intrepid CV-11 - an American aircraft carrier of World War II and the Vietnam War.
The keel was laid on December 1, 1941 at the Newport News shipyard, and was launched on April 26, 1943. She was assigned to service on August 16, 1943, and immediately "went" to the Pacific, where she participated in battles against the Japanese. It "retired" on March 15, 1974, and has been moored in New York as the Intrepid Sea-Air Space Museum since 1982.
