TheMi-26 is a heavy transport helicopter produced by the USSR and the Russian Federation, used by the military and civil aviation.
The helicopter was developed in 1977 (it was flown on December 14, 1977), and serial production began in 1981.
The Mi-26 is designed to transport large loads of up to 20 tons and, in its passenger version, to carry up to 120 people. It is the only helicopter in the world with an eight-blade and largest main rotor (32 meters in diameter) and tail rotor.
One of the most important tasks in the history of this helicopter was covering the dome of the explosion-damaged nuclear reactor in Chernobyl.
