TheBell UH-1 is a US multi-role helicopter from the 1960s, also known as the "Huey."

Work on building the helicopter began in 1955 at the Bell Helicopter Textron design office. The flight took place just a year later, on October 22, 1956. The first mass-production machines went to the US Army on June 30, 1959.

The UH-1s are best known from the Vietnam War, where they served as transport, air support and medical helicopters. According to sources, 7013 helicopters took part in the Vietnam War, of which, as many as 3305 were lost.

The Bell UH-1 was produced in many versions until 1986.

on June 23, 2021, exactly after 54 years and 3 months of flight service, the last flight of the Bell UH-1D (in an individual version of the "Goodbye Huey" paint job with the number 73+08) took place, marking the end of an era. Its route was from Brandenburg via Berlin to Bückeburg in Lower Saxony. Six helicopters from all Army flying units greeted the "Goodbye Huey" over Bückeburg Army Air Base and escorted it to its final landing, which took place in front of hangar 7 of Bückeburg Army Air Base (see TU).
