TheVickers Welington, a twin-engine British medium bomber of World War II, was the primary long-range night bomber used in Britain.

In 1932, the British Air Ministry placed an order for a modern medium bomber. Work proceeded quickly, the designers were Rex K.Pearson and Barnes Walis, the prototype was built based on a geodetic structure unusual for aircraft (a spatial truss of bent tubes connecting at near-right angles, forming a kind of grid covered with canvas). on June 15, 1936, a prototype aircraft was flown with the factory number 271 (named Crecy). After modifications and alterations, the first serial aircraft, named Wellington, took off on December 23, 1937.

The aircraft was produced in 3 factories until October 1945 and a total of 11,461 were built. Before the war, there were "coming off the line" 30 planes per month, but the peak of production was reached in 1942, where 70 copies of this magnificent aircraft left the factory in Weybrige per month.
