The Consolidated B-24 Liberator was an American long-range heavy bomber and patrol aircraft, also used to fight U-boats.

On February 1, 1939. USAAC announced specifications for a new four-engine heavy bomber which was to have a range of about 4,850 kilometers reaching a ceiling of 10,600 meters with a top speed of 480 km/h and the ability to carry 4,000 kg of bombs.

The first flight took place on December 29, 1939, and series production continued from 1940 to 1945, with a total of 18,482 produced, placing it in first place of the single type aircraft produced during World War II.

A 1:1 scale mock-up of the aircraft can be seen at the Warsaw Uprising Museum in Warsaw. It is the only such mock-up in the world that uses parts of a Liberator shot down by Luftwaffe fighters near Bochnia, which was returning after dropping aid to the uprising.
