TheAvro Lancaster is a British heavy four-engine World War II bomber aircraft.
The aircraft was designed at the Avro plant (A.V. Roe and Company Limited), and was first flown on January 9, 1941. The Lancaster is considered to be the most successful British heavy bomber with excellent flying qualities, high payload, good cabin visibility and a relatively low failure rate. A total of 7377 aircraft of this type were produced in various versions.
