Luftwaffe training aircraft of former Polish production (PWS).
TheRWD-8 training and liaison aircraft was the most popular aircraft of the interwar period and the most widely produced type of aircraft of Polish design. The version of the plane produced by the PWS (Podlasie Aircraft Works) differed in many details from the version produced by the DWL works. The RWD-8 PWS aircraft found use in military training, and were also used for liaison purposes. The outbreak of war interrupted the aircraft's production. In 1939, there were 349 RWD-8s in military aviation, used for liaison purposes. After the end of operations in the September campaign, more than 100 RWD-8 aircraft ended up outside Poland: 57 in Romania, 40 in Latvia, several in Germany and two each in Hungary and Finland.
