Northrop P-61 Black Widow ("black widow") - a night fighter developed by the World War II Northrop Corporation.
The order for such an aircraft was born in 1940 under the leadership of General Emmons, the airframe was to have A1 radar, armament in rotating turrets and a flight time of 8 hours.
After careful analysis, Jack Northrop, together with designer Vladimir Pavletskaya, designed one of the most original aircraft, the powerful XP-61 fighter whose first flight took place on May 26, 1942. The first copy of the P-61A version "rolled off the line" in October 1943, followed by the P-61B and P-61C versions. In total, some 650 were produced.
