U-2/Po-2VS/CSS-13 - Soviet World War II biplane trainer and multirole aircraft.
One of the most numerous and famous aircraft in the history of world aviation was the Polikarpov U-2. It was designed as a basic training aircraft. The maiden flight took place in June 1927. Since the early 1930s, the U-2 became a real "flying deck" for tens of thousands of pilots, called by them Kukurnik, Pociak or Mule.
The PO-2 was used for pilot training, field spraying and many other tasks, and during the war it performed well as a night bomber. It served uninterruptedly in aviation for more than 35 years, it was produced in the number of 33,000 copies, and counting additionally licensed production, a total of more than 40,000 left the tape.
In 1944, after the death of Nikolai Polycarpov, the aircraft was renamed Po-2.
