Mitsubishi A6M known as Zero - a World War II Imperial Navy fighter plane.

The design was developed by Japanese engineer Jirō Horikoshi in 1940. The aircraft was to meet criteria such as: speed in level flight min. 500 km/h, a run-up of less than 70 meters from the ship's deck, a combat action radius of at least 500 km.

A6M3 (model 32) - work on this version began in mid-1941. In order to increase speed, the wingspan was reduced from 12 to 11 meters ending in rectangular tips and a more powerful Nakajima Sakae 21 engine with 1130 horsepower was used, which allowed to reach a speed of 545 km/h. After the modifications, the aircraft's maneuverability decreased and the aircraft's range decreased to 2,000 km (the reason for the range was the change of the fuel tank from 518 to 470 liters at the expense of installing a larger engine). The next version of the A6M3 (model 22) returned to the original wingspan in which the fuel tanks were located, and used a new main fuel tank with a capacity of 570 liters. A total of 343 copies of the Model 32 were produced, and 2,300 copies of the Model 22 (A6M3a).
