LEARN HOW THE DIFFERENTIAL WORKS
The Differential Mechanism is a stylized educational model. An interactive guide to the world of mechanics designed to help you learn the basics of how a model works. The differential is designed so that drive wheels mounted on the same axle turn at different rates and cover a different distance at the same time. The mechanism allows the car to make a turn without having to stop the wheels, slipping. Also, it reduces tire wear and makes entering and exiting a turn much easier. Once the differential is assembled, you can unlock it by pushing the lever to position 1(up) and setting the wheels in motion by turning the drive wheel. The control lever adjusts the smooth locking of the respective right and left wheels depending on which way you want to turn. When the lever is in the "down" position, the two wheels are coupled together and can either turn together( by driving the drive wheel) or be locked simultaneously(by the lever).
