Introducing the Marble Run Gradual Hoist, the second in a series of modular ball tracks from Ugears. This fun and exciting wooden ball track features an ingenious 3-stage lifting mechanism and a set of new features that draw attention to the cyclical journey of the balls. This do-it-yourself wooden ball track features multiple tracks and elements in a small space.
Marble Run Step hoist
Look "ballsy"!
The model has a 3-stage, alternating elevator that passes the balls back and forth as they climb to the top to begin their amusement park adventure. Which ball will ride on which track and which will go down first? The Marble Run step lift has a 3-ball hopper, where the third ball opens the gate for the trapped first and second balls, sending all three on their divergent paths. There are three tracks: the first consists of a 2-ball hopper and streamers, the second is a hammer swing in a C-shaped cradle, and the third is a whirlpool or funnel. All balls eventually pass through the collecting tray and into the swing elevator. A rocker switch mechanism sends the balls back along the return track to the 3-stage elevator or (and this is where it gets really exciting!) to another attached Ugears ball track.
MODULAR MARBLE RUN SERIES
We designed the Ugears line of ball tracks modularly, that is, each model works as a stand-alone or can be connected face-to-face or side-to-side with other Ugears ball tracks of the same or different design (you can connect 2 or 4 models, in pairs, using special connectors included in the kit). A rocking mechanism at the end of the track can move the balls in one direction or the other, or in both directions (depending on the attached weight), returning the balls to the original lift or sending them to another marble track. With adjacent marble tracks, we now have an amazing, complex system of interconnected elements, all driven by a single crank. It's like a miniature amusement park! Keep an eye on your favorite marble - who knows where it will land, when it will return to its starting point or what rides it will take along the way!
MODEL CONSTRUCTION MARBLE RUN STEP HOIST
The Marble Run Gradual Hoist is an exciting combination of art and engineering. It is both a beautiful kinetic sculpture and an intricate toy that teaches and entertains. As you build this ingenious wooden ball track, you'll learn about the interplay of driving and driven gears and the function of counterbalance. Turn the crank handle clockwise to set the machine in motion, and prepare to be mesmerized as the alternating, stepped ladder design collects, lifts and feeds the balls back and forth until they reach the top of the machine to begin their run. Ugears ball tracks are sturdy. Structural rigidity is achieved with a strong base and tightened frame components. A geared drive drives both elevators: main, 3-stage and auxiliary.
Children (and adults!) enjoy watching the balls ride up and down the tracks, go through various obstacles and race along the course. Ball tracks are fascinating, eye-catching and relaxing at the same time. Ball tracks and racing have become an unexpected video phenomenon on the web, with thousands of videos gaining millions of views. You choose a ball you want to cheer for, wonder what path it will take, put yourself in its place, imagining you are going on a wonderful, unknown journey, with twists and surprises around every corner. The thrill is even greater when you've built the marble run yourself - now you're not passively watching a movie, but are fully involved because you've built a marvelous machine with your own hands.
