Introducing the Drift Cobra Racing Car, a beautifully styled, two-seat convertible - our take on the most revered sports car of all time: the Shelby Cobra 427. Produced from 1965-67, the Cobra 427 had a 7.0-liter engine with 450-510 horsepower, reached 0-60 mph in just over 4 seconds, and had a top speed of 185 mph.
Shelby, Muscle Cars, V8, UGEARS !
Carroll Shelby, a former racing driver and automotive designer, was hired by Ford Motor Co. to create a high-performance race car that could compete with the dominant Italian racing team Ferrari. The American's four consecutive victories at the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966-69, achieved in Ford GT40s, have passed into legend. It was recently the subject of the 2019 Oscar-winning film "Ford vs. Ferrari," starring Matt Damon as Shelby and Christian Bale as Ken Miles, the 1966 Ford team's ace driver. The success of the cars coming out of Shelby's store in Venice, California was the beginning of a wave of American high-performance supercars or muscle cars, characterized by powerful V8 engines housed in relatively lightweight, mass-produced, rear-drive chassis. The Shelby Cobra is an American icon, perhaps the greatest muscle car and the most "poster" car in history.

The scarcity and incredible auction prices today of some of these classic street beasts is due to the fact that they were often more powerful than their owners could control, leading to frequent accidents. Muscle cars have faced off in many illegal street races, sometimes with ownership documents as a "buy-in" to the race(another way to lose a muscle car!).

Design and construction of the Cobra Drift Racing Car model
Powered by a powerful spring engine, the Ugears Drift Cobra racing car has the fastest team of horses under the hood of any mechanical wooden model we know of. The model is shot with a ratchet dial located under the chassis. Before shooting your 3D wooden model of the Drift Cobra race car, slide the air filter that protrudes from the hood toward the windshield. And put the switch located in front of the passenger side seat in the Lock position (parallel to the door). Now turn the latch under the body of the car. After 6 to 6.5 turns, the spring is fully screwed on and - vroom! vroom! - Your racer is ready to roar! Set the gear shift lever, located between the driver and passenger seats, to the desired position (Reverse, Neutral, Drive). To start the model, lay it on a flat surface, slide the air filter forward and watch your Cobra burn rubber on the track (start with the wheels turned to one side), make circles or accelerate in a straight line.
We think this 3D jigsaw / DIY model is beautiful, with fat tires, exuberant curves (thanks to pieces precisely laser-cut from 1mm-thick thin plywood), a big open mouth at the front and an open convertible top. Moving parts of this wooden car include rotating front wheels, opening doors and a lifting hood and trunk. Instead of a rubber engine, we used a strong spring mechanism, which adds "strength" to the model and extends its life. The ratchet mechanism means you don't have to hold the knob the entire time the model is winding up. Potential energy is stored with each revolution, without slippage, until the strong internal spring is fully wound.
Drift King
To put the model into "drift mode," turn the front wheels fully to one side or the other, place it on a smooth surface such as tile, and watch as the model enters side slip (ideally, the model should make a half to full turn before continuing forward, depending on the driving surface and the angle at which the wheels turn). When the wheels are set straight, the model covers a great deal of ground - 8 meters or more! Put the wheels in a smoother turn, or put the model on a less slippery surface and watch your Drift Cobra roll two or three full circles.
What parts included ?
The Drift Cobra model contains 370 parts, and the assembly time is 9 hours. Skill level: difficult. Follow in the footsteps of Carol Shelby and build a beautiful and functional car with your own hands! Everything you need for this difficult but doable DIY wooden puzzle project is included in the box. These are high-quality plywood boards with precision laser-cut parts. They can be detached and then assembled without glue or special tools. In addition, there is a metal spring that drives the mechanism and, of course, a set of detailed, illustrated instructions in 11 languages.
