PIKO 51110 ELECTRIC LOCOMOTIVE BR 101VI (PIKO 30th anniversary model)
In 1997, the first copies of the BR 101 electric locomotive appeared and entered regular service with Deutsche Bahn AG. BR 101 locomotives were originally designed for both freight and passenger service, but when DB AG was formed, its business sectors
were separated, and BR 101s were assigned to long-distance passenger traffic. The BR 101 series is virtually synonymous with high-speed passenger train service. BR 101 locomotives are often colorful and covered with advertisements. They are not usually found on regional services, with the exception of the Munich-Nurem-Berg Express. Trains on this line can run at speeds of up to 200 km/h (124 mph), the fastest DB Regio service in the country. The BR 101's huge power rating makes it suitable for heavy use on mountainous routes.
It is fondly called "kilometer eater," meaning "kilometer eater," and running 2,000 km (1,242 miles) a day is not unusual for this locomotive.
Special model! New 2022: on May 1, 1992, the Wilfer family acquired PIKO from a trust. That's when PIKO Spielwaren GmbH was born. To celebrate the 30th anniversary, the H0 Expert model of the BR 101 class is an attractively designed special locomotive, produced as a one-off and limited edition.
