Sound diesel locomotive 218 497-6 "PIKO / Märklin" DB AG VI, including PIKO sound decoder
Novelty 2021: For the first time in the history of model railroading, a locomotive with the logos of two model railroad companies, Märklin and PIKO, appears on a prototype of a major railroad.
A special feature of the 218 497-6 locomotive is its eye-catching special paint job, which is the result of a creative competition among DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung GmbH (FZI) employees.
It symbolizes the Cottbus plant's history of repairing steam locomotives as well as maintaining ICE trains.
The locomotive will continue to be stationed at FZI Cottbus and will be available to customers as a replacement locomotive.
The two model railroad manufacturers Märklin and PIKO are acting as joint advertising partners for this project. The logos of both manufacturers alternate on the front of the locomotive, both on the original and on the model. The PIKO logo adorns the black half, while the Märklin logo adorns the light gray half.
The PIKO H0 model in the Hobby series is also available in a sound version for the first time. It uses the new PIKO SmartDecoder with load control. The sound design has been completely sampled with recordings of the original engine. The 218 497-6 from PIKO is therefore the proud owner of the new PIKO TrainSound® quality seal.
There is room for the driver's cab No. 2. The lights on the model turn white/white with the direction of travel.
