This vintage model pays homage to the beginnings of the automotive era
A TIME MACHINE, A RETURN TO A LEGEND
Ugears team of engineers and designers has developed a special vintage car model that will take you back to that era. Distinctive features include a functional folding convertible roof with a fabric overlay; a slamming cab door that opens forward; a hood that opens on both sides to reveal a functional 4-cylinder engine with a crankshaft; a skeuomorphic pendulum that simulates the sound of a rumbling engine; front wheels that turn with a steering wheel; and a rear-mounted spare wheel. To start the Retro UGR-T Car, set the Start/Stop button to the "Stop" position as you wind the spring-driven engine with the ratchet wrench built under the chassis. Place the model on a flat surface, holding it with one hand, press "Start," then release and watch it drive. The car has 3 gears: forward, neutral and reverse.
ORIGINS OF MASS PRODUCTION
Did you know that the era of mass-produced cars also heralded the era of mass car theft? Without the ability to lock open cabs, with easy-to-connect transmissions and without easily identifiable individual markings or serial numbers, mass-produced cars were attractive targets for thieves. Moreover, cars gave criminals an easy way to transport stolen goods or make a quick getaway after a bank robbery. During Prohibition in the United States (1920-33), many cars had false chassis installed to hide illegal alcohol! In fact, the rise and development of the FBI goes hand in hand with the rise and development of mass-produced cars.
MODEL CONSTRUCTION AND "PAINTING"
The wooden model Retro UGR-T car consists of 337 parts, is "advanced" in terms of difficulty and promises more than 7 hours of enjoyable assembly. No glue or other tools are needed to assemble this attractive model - everything you need is in the box. The parts are carefully laser-cut into plywood, from which they can be easily removed and joined together. Detailed, illustrated instructions in 11 languages help you assemble everything. If you break a part during construction, let us know and we'll be happy to provide you with a replacement part free of charge.
Early hand-built cars came in a variety of colors (but black paint dried faster)! You can leave your Retro Car UGR-T in attractive natural wood condition, paint or stain it in its original color, or paint it black.
