There are two modes of playing the instrument: you can use the keys to strike the metal plates, producing notes in the octave range, from C to C, or you can "program" the instrument by composing a melody on the piano drum and then play it by turning the knob!

Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do. As Julie Andrews said in 'Sounds of Music': "when you have these notes in your head, you can sing a million different melodies just by mixing them."

Thanks to the ease of use of the Mechanical Celesta, even the smallest child or those with no prior musical knowledge can start playing it. Just hit the keys or turn the crank to create pre-programmed melodies. In "manual mode," when you press a key, the hammer strikes the cymbal and you hear the sound of the corresponding note. In "programmed melody mode," you arrange a series of cymbals along a rotating drum, then turn the drum as the balls on each cymbal trigger the hammers to strike the appropriate notes.
